MANITOBA SHOWCASE CONTACT 2011

October 13 - 16, 2011
Winkler, Manitoba

Each October, the Manitoba Arts Network produces the annual Manitoba Showcase Contact event. In 2011 the City of Winkler hosted delegates from community arts and cultural organizations from all parts of Manitoba for a weekend of performance showcases, visual and literary arts programs, workshops and seminars.

Workshops and seminars were planned around the theme of “The Business of Show Business”, and designed to address issues surrounding the delivery of cultural programming. The program included a very well received hands-on training workshop for theatre sound and lighting technicians, as well as seminars on risk management and event production.

Visual and Literary Arts programming was included, with the opening of two new exhibitions featuring noted Manitoba artists, and readings by some of our best literary talent. Accommodation, workshops and seminars were presented at The Heartland Inn and Conference Centre.

The following Showcase Contact 2011 Performers appeared onstage at the fabulous PW Enns Centennial Concert Hall during Contact weekend: African Stages, Alexander Sevastian, Annette Campagne, Bolero Dance Theatre, Couloir, Damsel and Swains, Destino, Eli Barsi, Evie & Jeff Sawatzky, Jake’s Gift, Jaylene Johnson, My Sweet Patootie, Richard Wood & Gordon Belsher, The Travelling Mabels, Trio Bembe.
